Protect Your Data & Devices

3 Free Ways to Protect Your Data & Devices

Everyone knows cybersecurity is a good thing, but the extra time needed to put these measures in place can delay us. But honestly, now is the time. In an increasingly digital world, cybersecurity is every person's responsibility. In many cases, cyberattack is due to ignorance & negligence of simple security measures.

Even if the platforms hosting your information are safe, keeping your accounts & devices safe is up to you.

If you aren't used to using cybersecurity platforms, the software investment might not seem worth it. If that's the case, no worries! You can still adopt these safety measures. There are free options.

1. Mix up your passwords (& use a password manager).

I know, I know. It's something everyone knows they should do. Since all of those new & secure passwords can be difficult to remember, I recommend using a password manager. According to Forbes, these are the best free options.

These managers have password generators, but if you just want a quick "strong password" guide:

Choose 3 random words.
Add number(s) between them.
Change letter(s) to symbol(s).

Example: Ways. Daffodil. Juice. → Ways2Daffodil8Juice → W@ys2Daffodil8Ju%ce

2. Use a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

VPNs are vital when on any public WiFi, but even on your home WiFi, VPNs can protect your servers from accessing or selling your information. Here's an article with the best free VPNs. Review your options and pick one that works best for you!

Your information is extremely important to us, and we understand the weight of protecting it.

3. Limit sharing you personal Personal Identifiable Information (PII).

Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is information that can be used to identify you. Examples: name, address, phone numbers, data of birth, SSN, IP address, location, etc.

Anything shared on social media & other platforms can increase your chances of a security breach. Review the privacy settings of all online accounts & delete any unnecessary information.
